Merja Wahlroos works as a head keeper at Helsinki Zoo, Finland. In addition to office work, she takes care of the zoo’s group of Barbary macaques. In her free time she studies animal behaviour, and she is also a qualified animal trainer. Her focus is on understanding animal cognition and behaviour to enhance the welfare of captive wild animals. Another interest of hers is supporting conservation projects through fund raising and campaigns.
