Monkey Murals! This little school near Jbel Kelti got a visit from Sonia and Ahmed last year and learned all about the macaques that live near their village. Since then, thanks to their teacher, they have set up an environmental club and last week they had an open week. Ahmed was invited and transported lots of tree saplings for the children to plant.
On one of the days, an artist came to paint a mural on the school's wall. He asked the children what they would like to see every day and they replied El Zatoot! So they have a mural of Barbary macaques with the message "Don’t support the capture and commerce of wild animals". This is a great result for BMCRif's education and awareness work and makes us more determined to continue. Thank you to these little children and their teacher for their enthusiasm and support of their macaques.
BMCRif is very excited about our latest education project. This spring, we will be collaborating with and supporting Monkeys Acting in Schools for Conservation (MASC). MASC will be presenting a theatrical adaptation of The Journey of Teshta ( which you can download here) in the villages and schools of Bouhachem, the city of Tetouan and the towns on the Mediterranean coast. We are all very excited about this project as it is another step forward in delivering our conservation message whilst making it fun and innovative.
